WL-10B Jet-Powered UCAV to Enter Saudi Service
Chinese AVIC’s WL-10B high-altitude jet-powered UCAV will enter service with the Royal Saudi Air Force soon.
Saudi Arabia, among China’s regular customers for UAVs, will take delivery of its first jet-powered UCAV platform, as reported by China Defence. The information has been released on behalf of state-owned CATIC.
WL-10B is an export version of WL-10, used by the People’s Liberation Army Air Force. The UAV can reach a maximum speed of 620 km/h and an altitude of 15000 m with an endurance of 20 hours.
The payloads include an electro-optical system and up to 900 kg of air-to-surface munitions. The munitions include gliding, rocket-powered missiles and YJ-9E lightweight anti-ship missiles.
Chinese UCAVs in Saudi Arabia’s inventory include Wing Loong I and Wing Loong II. The propeller-driven models from CATIC form the majority of the country’s UCAV fleet.

Recently, Saudi Arabia also announced the procurement of Bayraktar AKINCI UCAVs from Turkiye. The procurement also includes munitions from ROKETSAN and ASELSAN.
When the two platforms surpass the current platforms in various areas compared, WL-10B features a high speed and operational ceiling thanks to turbojet propulsion, while AKINCI has a greater payload capacity at 1500+ kg, as well as a wider array of munitions from the MAM family to HGK-84 2000 lb bombs. This will include GÖKDOĞAN and BOZDOĞAN AAMs in future with the integration of MURAD AESA radar.

Based on a Czech TATRA 8x8 truck chassis, the new howitzer features a crew armor cab at the front and a 155mm cannon at the rear, equipped with a semi-automatic loading system and storage for charge and rounds.

Otokar Exports COBRA II to Saudi Arabia
Otokar exported its COBRA II 4x4 wheeled armoured vehicle to Saudi Arabia. The company had previously exported 200 4X4 Survivors to Saudi Arabia. Developing various solutions for Saudi Arabia's needs and exhibiting them at defence industry fairs in the country, Otokar signed a contract last year for the COBRA II 4x4 wheeled armoured vehicle, Anadolu News Agency reported.




In line with this contract, various deliveries were made at the end of last year and the beginning of this year, and the vehicles began their missions. Thus, Saudi Arabia was added to the countries where COBRA II was exported. The COBRA II is a versatile armoured vehicle with manoeuvrability, ballistic and mine protection. It offers mobility in all types of terrain conditions, can be equipped with various weapon systems and equipment, and can adapt to different operational needs. With a capacity to carry up to nine personnel, the COBRA II is ready to perform a wide range of missions, from border security to reconnaissance.
