Drei ehemalige Häftlinge des US-Gefangenenlagers Guantanamo auf Kuba erheben massive Vorwürfe gegen ihre Bewacher. Ihre Berichte erinnern an die menschenverachtenden Praktiken der US-Soldaten im irakischen Gefängnis Abu Ghureib: Sexueller Missbrauch und Folter seien an der Tagesordnung gewesen.

London - Die drei britischen Staatsbürger Asef Iqbal, Ruhal Ahmed und Shafiq Rasul aus dem englischen Tipton berichten, sie hätten zwei Jahre ohne offizielle Anklage und Rechtsbeistand in amerikanischer Gefangenschaft verbracht, zunächst in Afghanistan und später in Guantanamo.

Im März kehrten sie nach Großbritannien zurück, wo sie freigelassen wurden, ohne noch mit einer Anklage rechnen zu müssen. Die drei Männer geben an, unter anderem geschlagen und getreten, mit Drogen voll gepumpt, nackt fotografiert sowie sexuell missbraucht worden zu sein.

Unter Generalmajor Geoffrey Miller, der später das berüchtigte Gefängnis Abu Ghureib in Bagdad befehligte, habe sich die Lage der Häftlinge in Guantanamo noch verschlimmert, hieß es. Ihnen seien die Bärte abgeschnitten worden, sie seien mit Fesseln in unnatürliche Haltungen gezwungen und nackt in den Zellen eingeschlossen worden.

Mutmaßlicher Extremistenführer gefasst
Die saudiarabische Polizei hat den meist gesuchten Terroristen des Landes festgenommen. Dies teilte das saudische Innenministerium in einer im Fernsehen verlesenen Erklärung mit und bestätigte damit einen Bericht des Senders Al Arabija. Faris al Sahrani wurde demnach am Donnerstag in der südlichen Provinz Abha festgenommen. Die Festnahme sei kampflos erfolgt, die Verdächtigen seien nicht dazu gekommen, ihre Waffen zu benutzen. Neben Sahrani sei ein weiterer Verdächtiger festgenommen worden. Dessen Name werde jedoch aus Gründen des "nationalen Interesses" nicht genannt.

A signal contribution of the 9/11 commission report was to identify the enemy bluntly. More specifically than generic terrorism, the commission declared we are under attack from "Islamist terrorism." This is an enemy unlike our former adversary, the Soviet Union, during the half-century of the Cold War. The Soviets were ideologically committed, powerful and ruthless, but they were also rational. The nuclear weapons standoff never escalated to all-out war because neither side was suicidal.
Today, the delivery systems of weapons of mass (as well as smaller scale) destruction are fanatical, irrational, embittered, disenfranchised, psychotic, suicidal religious zealots, many of whom perceive that they have little to lose in this ephemeral world, and hope for eternal rewards in the hereafter. These aren't the kind of people who respond to negotiations.
Call it what you will - radical Islam, Wahhabism, Jihadism - it's a cancer on civilization that must be forcefully removed, just as Nazism had to be eliminated in the last century. Until we come to grips with that reality, we will not devote the will, the resources and the sacrifice necessary to win this latest world war. After 9/11, many Americans have come to understand this.

Iraq Evidence Led Feds to Albany Mosque
ALBANY, N.Y. — Information found in Iraq led federal investigators to become suspicious of an Albany, N.Y., mosque leader, FOX News has learned.

Last summer, U.S. troops discovered Yassin Muhhiddin Aref's (search) name, telephone number and address in a book left behind in a vacated terrorist training camp, a U.S. official told FOX News. The book also revealed that Ansar al-Islam, the group running the camp, had given Aref a title: "the commander."
Aref also made several telephone calls to individuals in Iraq within the past year, the official said.
Aref, 34, is the Imam of the Masjid As-Salam mosque in Albany, N.Y. He and one other mosque leader were arrested Thursday and charged with helping an undercover informant posing as a weapons dealer who was plotting to buy a shoulder-launched missile that would be used to kill the Pakistani ambassador in New York City.

Militant Islam is an ideology embraced by political and economic elites, including those who hold American passports.

Unfortunately, much of the academy refuses to acknowledge the fact, championing instead “hopeless poverty” and “economic deprivation” as “root causes” of violence committed by Islamist terrorists.

But the evidence reveals that the relationship between poverty and religiously motivated violence is weak. Radicals and revolutionaries historically have emerged from the middle to upper classes of society. After a critical examination of the supposed connection between poverty and terrorism, Princeton University econmics professor Alan B. Krueger and Middle East specialist Jitka Maleckova concluded,

terrorism is less like property crime and more like a violent form of political engagement. More-educated people from privileged backgrounds are more likely to participate in politics, probably in part because political involvement requires some minimum level of interest, expertise … all of which are more likely if people are educated enough and prosperous enough to concern themselves with more than economic subsistence.[iv][4]

The spread of Islamist radicalism in the United States, where demographic surveys indicate that 66% of American Muslims earn over $50,000 per year, confirms this thesis.[v][5] Moreover, the top ten Muslim occupations in America include engineering, medicine, and corporate management.[vi][6] Daniel Pipes, a scholar of Islam, notes, “In socioeconomic terms, certainly, Muslims can find little fault with America. They boast among the highest rates of education of any group in the country—a whopping 52 percent appear to hold graduate degrees—and this translates into a pattern of prestigious and remunerative employment.”[vii][

Computer discs seized in Britain may trigger new security alerts: report

(CNN) -- A Pakistani citizen who was arrested while videotaping buildings in Charlotte, North Carolina, was charged with federal immigration violations, authorities announced Tuesday.

Kamran Shaikh -- also known as Kamran Akhtar -- was carrying videotapes of other Southern cities, according to an affidavit signed by U.S. Immigrations and Customs agent John Sherrill.
Those videos included images of Mansfield Dam in Austin, Texas; the MARTA transit system in Atlanta, Georgia; the Downtown Transit Center and Downtown Metro Trolley in Houston, Texas; and trolley cars in Dallas and New Orleans, Louisiana, the affidavit said.

Also begann am Dienstag in Hamburg die Neuauflage des ersten Prozesses um die Terroranschläge vom 11. September 2001 gegen den Marokkaner Mounir Al Motassadeq für Generalbundesanwalt Kay Nehm unter denkbar schlechten Vorzeichen.


Die Anklage steht mit leeren Händen da. Sie verfügt weder über Antworten auf die Fragen des Hanseatischen Oberlandesgerichts an die US-Regierung, noch hatten die Behörden der Vorladung von Zeugen zugestimmt. FBI-Agent Matthew Walsh, der frühere CIA-Chef George Tenet und der inhaftierte Ramzi Binalshibh dürfen nicht vernommen werden. Binalshibh gilt als Cheflogistiker der Hamburger Terrorzelle um den Todespiloten Mohammed Atta und ist eine Schlüsselfigur in diesem Prozess.

80 Muslim converts trained under Janjalani

THE al-Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf group has deployed 80 Muslim converts all over the country, most of them in key cities in Metro Manila, to bomb civilian and government targets.

Citing reports from the intelligence community, National Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales said the Abu Sayyaf chieftain, Khadaffy Janjalani, trained these converts, who were former Christians, early last year in the jungles of Basilan.

BRITISH security services have compiled a ‘hit-list’ of 20 al-Qaeda terrorist suspects who are living in Scotland and said to be connected with a plot to unleash mass murder on the streets of the UK.
The dossier, compiled by MI5 and Special Branch, contains the names of more than 80 alleged extremists across Britain whom security services allege were involved in a plan to kill, using the deadly poison ricin.
The 20 suspects living north of the Border are all Muslims and based in the Central Belt. Some are said to be British citizens.

Mohammed Junaid Babar, a naturalized American originally from Pakistan, pleaded guilty June 2 to five counts of conspiring to provide material support to terrorists, as well as providing the support, according to a court transcript recently released.

HAMBURG - A German who converted to Islam testified Tuesday to a Hamburg court about how he became acquainted with the main 11 September suicide attacker, Mohammed Atta, in a city mosque.

The 23-year-old witness, whose name was withheld in line with ethics guidelines, was testifying at the trial of Mounir al- Motassadeq, a Moroccan student accused for the second time on charges of aiding murder and being a member of the Hamburg terrorist cell.

AMSTERDAM — Muslim extremists have threatened an "Islamic earthquake" and "nights of bloodshed" in the Netherlands unless Dutch troops are withdrawn from Iraq. The warning came a day after a Dutch soldier was shot dead in southern Iraq.

"We address this message to all crusader countries plotting against the Muslims, and which are sending forces to Iraq and Afghanistan, especially Italy and the Netherlands," organisation al-Tawhid wa al-Jihad said on an website on Sunday.

The Guantanamo Four

Their names: Mourad Benchellali, Nizar Sassi, Brahim Yadel and Imad Achab Kanouni.

Their current status: captured in Afghanistan by US forces, the four—all of whom are French citizens or residents— were held at Camp Guantanamo for over two years. That is, until last month, when they were sent back to France and placed under arrest on charges of “criminal association with the intent of committing acts of terrorism” and, more specifically, of membership in the terrorist “Chechen connection.”
The case of these four men is typical of the terrorists held at Guantanamo and thus, deserves some examination. While we are constantly being told by “human rights” activists that the prisoners at Guantanamo are “ illegally” held, and that many, if not all are “innocent” and have been mistreated by the Americans, the reality is something far different.

Terror's South African Front

On July 25, following a twelve-hour shootout, two South African Al Qaeda operatives were nabbed in Pakistan, along with Africa Embassy bombing suspect Ahmed Ghailani. 8 Terror Suspects Appear in British Court

LONDON - Eight suspects, including a man identified by the United States as a senior al-Qaida figure, appeared in a London court under heavy guard Wednesday as police investigated their alleged plot to commit murder and to cause mayhem with chemical, biological or radioactive materials.
A prosecutor also said police were searching about 100 computers and thousands of files, suggesting a protracted investigation that could produce more charges against the suspects, who were seized in raids across England two weeks ago.
The eight suspects, including an alleged al-Qaida operative linked to a terror alert in the United States this month, did not enter pleas Wednesday and were ordered detained until their next court appearance Aug. 25.

ja, ja es ist wirklich ein furchteregender Sturm dieser Krieg gegen den

Die "Terrorismusbekämpfer" haben weder in Afghanistan noch im Irak die
Kontrolle erlangt.

Die Taliban und Bin Laden & Co. treiben sich immer noch in den afghanischen
Bergen rum und werden schon wieder runterkommen wenn die amis abgezogen
sind. Aber Kabul ist ja unter Kontrolle nicht war:rofl:

Und im Irak, da sehn sie ja noch lächerlicher aus. Nicht mal Falludjah oder
Nadjaf haben sie einnehmen können, geschweige denn die Kontrolle über den
ganzen Irak zu haben.

naja, von Meros Bezeichnung World Freedom Tour halte ich ja auch nichts... bei mir im Wohnzimmer hängt ein nettes Plakat mit der Aufschrift:
US World Domination Tour - Bombing a country near you ( mit den bombadierten ändern drauf)
Ich denke das paßt schon eher als World Freedom Tour, denn allein von den Fakten her, ist es nicht so weit her mit der Freiheit.. weder die Afghanen noch die Iraker sind frei. Nun ja, aus der Situation heraus ist das sicher auch so nicht möglich gewesen.

Ob nun Dubya Bush weg kommt oder nicht, ob nun Kerry ins Weiße haus kommt oder nicht, es mag sich ein wenig die Vorgehensweise ändern, aber eben Terror kann man nicht mit krieg bekämpfen - das sage ich schon schon zum x-ten mal.
Terror wird es in der einen Art oder anderen Art imer geben, genauso wie krieg , denn es sind nur Instrumentarien; mittel, mehr nicht.
Es geht dann schon eher um die Menschen, die dieses Mittel einsetzen wollenoder potenziell es tun wollen und deren Geisteshaltung.

Und da nun an die Ursachen des islamischen Terrors bzw. des Terrors weltweit zu gehen ist ja fast ein revolutionärer Gedanke.. nur ich galub, dass die diversen Gründe für den Terror ( ich äußere mich mal bei zeiten dazu auch ) zu sehr in der Strukut unserer WElt stecken und unserem menschlichen einfältigen denken, als das man da sehr erfolgereich sein könnte, gerade bei einem solch globalen Phänomen wie dem muslimisch-fundament. Terrorismus. Jener ist zu weit verbreitet und fußt auf zu vielen unterschiedlichen Variabeln als dass man da nun wirklioch so einfah eingreifen könnte, ohne die Welt auf den Kopf zu stellen ( wenn das reicht)...

nun ja, also dan hat eben mero vielleicht doch recht mit seinem " immer-der- hydra-den-kopf-abschlagen". Frage ist nur, ob der uns zuerst die Kraft ausgeht imer wieder fein abzuschlagen oder denen immer wieder neuen Nachwuchs zu rekrutieren.
naja, die ZUkunft wird es Bringen.
Fraglos ist aber sicher, dass einiges bei der Terrorismusbekämpfung geändert werden muss. Die US- Administration hat sich dabei zu sehr in ihren Herrschaftsplan über den Nahen Osten verschaut, dem Versuch allmählich alle Staten dort direkt oder indirekt unter Kontrollen zu halten und mit dort stationiereten Truppen oder Hilfstruppen der Einheimischen dort für Ordnung zu sorgen.. wenn sie das nicht vörhätten , wären sie wohl kaum in den Irak rein, denn gerade dort war die Religion ziemlich verpönnt ebenso wie die Terroristen.
Also mal abwarten, as bei dem ganzen Blutbad so rum kommt...
und dan mal akinci.. mhm, ich will ja nichts sagen, aber ich mach es doch.
Ich galube, wen sie wollten könnten die amis sehr schnell für ruhe und ordnung in Nadschaf etc. sorgen.. aber es wäre halt ne Friedhofsstille und tausende getötete Zivilisten als Kollateralschäden machen sich eben doch nicht gut. Da passen die mais dann doch auf, dass die zivilen Opfer nicht auf einmal zu viel werden.. ist aber hier das Thema Irak an sich :ot:
aber den kommentar konnte ich mir dann doch nicht verkenifen, bevor mero was ähnliches sagt :evil:

Quintessenz nach einer Stunde Rede und Diskussion: Vom Kalten Krieg lernen heißt siegen lernen. Der Krieg gegen den Terror jedenfalls, das habe auch Präsident Bush von Anfang an begriffen, werde nicht nur mit Waffen geführt. Er sei ebenso ein Krieg der Ideen und Visionen.

Wer - wie die Palästinenser in Israel - über Jahrzehnte hin nur Unterdrückung und Knebelung erlebt, sucht seine Hilfe nicht bei den Werten des Unterdrückers sondern in den "glorreichen Zeiten" der Vergangenheit - und in einer Ideologie, die sich scheinbar in diesen Zeiten bewährt hat.

Der Terror und die islamische Restauration kann nur beseitigt werden, wenn die Ursachen für diese "geistige Flucht in die Vergangenheit" beseitigt werden. Dazu gehört ein Ende von Gewalt, Besatzung und Unterdrückung, die von denjenigen ausgeübt wird, die sich als Repräsentanten der sogenannten "westlich ziviliserten Werte" darstellen.
