Rolleyes

Zitat:IRAN TESTED NEW NAVIGATION SYSTEM

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Iran completed the integration of a new Chinese-origin navigation system on the Shihab-3 during the latest test of the intermediate-range missile.

Western intelligence sources said the Shihab-3 test on Aug. 11 did not include a flight launch. Instead, they said, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps simulated a crisis in which the Iranian leadership ordered the launch of the missile from a military base in central Iran.

"The exercise comprised the entire process until actually pushing the button," an intelligence source said. "The entire Iranian leadership attended the test and they feel they've broken new ground."

During the exercise, the sources said, the Iranian leadership relayed orders to a military command and control center for the launch of the missile. The order sparked an alert at the military base in Dasht-E-Kabir near Isfahan and a Shihab-3 was taken out of its silo and installed on a launcher.

Zitat:TEHRAN (Agencies)- Iran is negotiating with India to buy advanced radar system to protect its nuclear weapons facilities.

The Untied States is closely monitoring the potential deal.
Industry sources on Saturday said New Delhi has been considering an Iranian request for an upgraded Western- origin radar systems.
They said the systems are designed for fire control and surveillance of anti-aircraft batteries.
Iran is seeking an unspecified number of Upgraded Support Fledermaus radar systems from the Indian state-owned Bharat Electronics Ltd, or BEL. The deal could reach $ 70 million and mark the first major defence agreement between New Delhi and Tehran since they signed a defence cooperation pact in 2002.
...
Iran already employs Soviet-origin anti-aircraft systems around the Bushehr nuclear reactor. It has already been a client of BEL in 2001, the Indian company sold Teheran components for sonar systems deployed by the Iranian navy.
The 2002 defence cooperation pact between New Delhi and Teheran was meant to pave the way for Indian upgrades and maintenance of Iran’s navy.
The Upgraded Super Fledermaus is a monopulse radar used in 35-mm air defence batteries and designed to detect low-flying objects, such as unmanned air vehicles. The digital system contains a but-in simulator as well as a signal jammer.
BEL has confirmed Iran’s request for the upgraded radar. Executives said Iran has sought the same fire control and surveillance radar that the company upgraded for the Indian Army in 2001.
The Super Fledermaus was acquired in the early 1980s and produced by BEL under licence from the radar’s designer Ericsson Radar Electronics.

Zitat:Sri Lanka to sign USD 150 million arms deal with Iran

[TamilNet, January 16, 2005 11:34 GMT]

Sri Lanka is to buy over USD 150 million of arms from Iran, the Sunday Times reported this week. A high-powered Sri Lankan military delegation led by Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shantha Kottegoda has left for Tehran this week to conclude the deal which was outlined when President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga went to Iran in November last year, the paper said.

"Sri Lanka will procure military hardware and oil on concessionary terms. The deal is said to be worth over US $ 150 million," the Sunday Times said.

"The delegation is to take a look at the wide variety of military hardware available. The Army has identified its requirements after a delegation visited Iran earlier. The Navy and the Air Force will check on requirements. Thereafter the tri services procurements are to be incorporated in an agreement," the paper said.

"This is the first time the Government is turning to Iran for procuring a broader variety of military hardware on a government-to-government basis. A similar deal was finalised last month with China," the paper pointed out.

:juhu:

Zitat:IRAN MARKETS RPG SYSTEM

LONDON [MENL] -- Iran has launched the marketing of an indigenous rocket-propelled grenade system.

Iran's Defense Industries Organization has displayed its upgraded RPG-7 launcher meant to be lighter than the Soviet-era model. Iranian officials maintain that the indigenous launcher was more accurate and easier to use than other models.

Iran unveiled the new RPG system at Defendory International 2004, held in Athens in October 2004. Officials said they expect orders of the RPG from several unidentified militaries.

Iran has reported sales of military equipment to 42 countries. Those countries were said to include African and Asian states, many of whom purchased rocket and missile systems.
