TEHRAN, Apr 8(MNA) – Alaeddin Boroujerdi said in case of non-adherent of Western powers to subjects such as nuclear arms reduction and recognition of Iran’s right to nuclear energy, withdrawal from the NPT will be among the options on the table for Majlis.

...
“all options are on the table in Majlis [parliament].”

He said: “it is not acceptable for Iran to respect the NPT and IAEA regulations, but the US and EU to ignore NPT protocols including Article 6 (nuclear arms reduction) and Article 4 (right to nuclear energy), therefore, there is no reason for Iran to be a NPT member, and Majlis could review that.”

Boroujerdi continued: “the red line is the nuclear bomb, which we are against it, and in addition to NPT commitment we are the only country with great religious fatwa (decree) about it [against nuclear weapons]. So the seriousness of the Islamic Republic of Iran in opposing to nuclear bomb is important aspect of confidence building.”

GCC nationals have repeatedly warned that the nuclear plant was a direct threat and attributed their concerns to the “mystery about its safety standards” and to “the proximity of Bushehr.”

“The earthquake on Tuesday was not far from the nuclear plant, but it could extend to it and we have to be ready for this ominous possibility,” the diplomats said. “Everything is possible and the seismic activity could well affect the plant anytime. We need to make sure we can tackle incidents and plan ahead to be on the safe side.” The diplomats said that the GCC had opened direct channels with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the issue.

Zitat:Stuxnet virus might have improved Iran's nuclear capabilities: report
By MICHAEL BLAUSTEIN
Last Updated: 12:17 PM, May 16, 2013

When the Stuxnet computer virus attacked Iran's nuclear enrichment facilities in 2010, it was widely acknowledged to be the most successful cyber attack of all time.

Unfortunately, new research shows that the Stuxnet virus was not only unsuccessful, it might have actually improved Iran's ability to make nuclear weapons, according to a new report

The stunning claim comes from a report published in a British academic journal which claims that Stuxnet had no discernible effect on Iran's ability to enrich uranium -- which can be used as fuel in a nuclear weapon -- and that it might have actually improved Iran's nuclear capabilities by exposing vulnerabilities that the regime might not have found for years.

Zitat:Iran asks IAEA to stop making political comments

TEHRAN, Jun. 8 (MNA) – Iran has called on the International Atomic Energy Agency and the West to stop making political comments about its nuclear program, saying that the UN nuclear watchdog would be allowed to inspect the Parchin military site in Tehran only after an agreement is signed.
“I call on the IAEA Secretariat and certain Western countries to stop making political speeches and allow us to continue our negotiations in a professional way and in a calm atmosphere,”
...
In his speech, Soltanieh also said, “I announce that as soon as the agency accepts our legitimate and logical stance stated in the documents (presented) during the latest meeting in Vienna on May 15, 2013, the structured approach document will be finalized, and Iran will be ready to grant access to Parchin according to the modality.”

U.S., European Officials Say Tehran Could Start Making Weapons-Grade Plutonium by Next Summer

WASHINGTON—Iran could begin producing weapons-grade plutonium by next summer, U.S. and European officials believe, using a different nuclear technology that would be easier for foreign countries to attack.

The second path to potentially producing a nuclear weapon could complicate international efforts to negotiate with Iran's new president, Hasan Rouhani, who was sworn in Sunday in Tehran. It also heightens the possibility of an Israeli strike, said U.S. and European officials.

Iran has 17,000 older "first-generation" IR-1 centrifuges, of which 10,000 are operating and 7,000 are ready to start operations, the ISNA news agency quoted Fereydoun Abbasi-Davani, outgoing head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), as saying.

A May report from the U.N. nuclear watchdog indicated that Iran had by then installed roughly 16,600 IR-1 machines in two separate facilities.

Abbasi-Davani also said there were 1,000 new, more advanced centrifuges ready to start operations, in a reference to IR-2m centrifuges, which once operational would allow Iran to enrich uranium several times faster than the IR-1 machine.

The IAEA in its last report in May said Iran had installed a total of 689 such centrifuges and empty centrifuge casings.
