US, Allies Reach Out to Al-Qaeda Militants in Syria
TEHRAN (FNA)- The US and its allies have held direct talks with key Al-Qaeda-affiliated extremist militants in Syria, Western officials said, explaining that Sunni Wahhabi fighters long shunned by the US have gained on the battlefield and Washington needs to establish relations with them now.
At the same time, Saudi Arabia is taking its own outreach further, moving to directly arm and fund one more Wahhabi group, the Army of Islam.
