The KRI Balaputradewa-322 frigate, equipped with systems from the Turkish defense industry, has been successfully launched.
The first vessel produced under Indonesia’s Red-and-White Frigate Program has met the sea. The launch ceremony was attended by Indonesian Deputy Minister of Defense Donny Ermawan Taufanto and his wife Ny. Yayuk Donny Ermawan.
Named KRI Balaputradewa-322 (BPD), the platform is the first of two frigates ordered by the Indonesian Ministry of Defense as part of efforts to strengthen the Navy’s fleet inventory.
In an official statement, the Ministry emphasized that “the vessel stands out not only as a combat platform but also as a concrete manifestation of Indonesia’s determination to build a credible naval deterrent using national capabilities and reflecting the technological level achieved by its defense industry. Designed and built entirely by domestic human resources, the ship confirms Indonesia’s capacity to produce modern warships while reinforcing the Navy’s role as a forward defense outpost at sea.”
Turkish Systems Onboard
KRI Balaputradewa-322 is designed as a modern multi-role frigate, configured to conduct air defense, surface warfare, and anti-submarine warfare missions. The ship integrates a wide range of systems developed by the Turkish defense industry, including:
ASELSAN – CENK 400-N and MAR-D radars
ROKETSAN – MİDLAS Vertical Launch System (VLS), 64-cell configuration
ASELSAN – METE HAN Multi-Function Radar (MFR)
ASELSAN – FERSAH Hull-Mounted Sonar (HMS)
HAVELSAN – ADVENT Combat Management System (CMS)
The integration of these systems highlights the growing role of Turkish defense technologies in international naval programs and reflects deepening defense-industrial cooperation between Türkiye and Indonesia.
