Im Zuge einer Entlassungswelle bei den Regierungsbehörden hat US-Präsident Donald Trump die sofortige Ablösung des Generalstabschefs der US-Streitkräfte, Charles Q. Brown, angekündigt. Trump dankte Brown auf seiner Onlineplattform Truth Social für »seine mehr als 40 Jahre Dienst« und würdigte ihn als »hervorragende Führungspersönlichkeit«. Als Nachfolger für den erst 2023 von Joe Biden ernannten Armeechef habe er den bisherigen Generalleutnant der Luftwaffe, Dan Caine, nominiert. Eine Begründung für Browns Entlassung nannte Trump nicht.

Additional firings are believed likely, some sources said.
