TCG Göksu Frigate Conducts Drill with French CSG
Turkish Navy's G-class frigate TCG Göksu (F-497) conducted joint drills with an Aquitaine-class frigate assigned to the French Carrier Strike Group.
French Armed Forces shared an image from the joint drills of the Clemenceau 25 mission, showing TCG Göksu from the perspective of an Aquitaine-class FREMM frigate.
Other ships taking part in the drill include the Italian Carlo Bergamini-class FREMM frigate Virginio Fasan (F-591) and the Greek Elli-class frigate HS Limnos.
TCG Göksu is one of the eight G-class (ex-Oliver Hazard Perry) frigates of the Turkish Navy, upgraded with HAVELSAN GENESIS CMS, SMART-S Mk2 searching radar, and eight Mk41 VLS cells for RIM-162 ESSM air defence missiles.
The Aquitaine-class frigate accompanying TCG Göksu is the French version of the FREMM frigate family. France acquired the frigates in ASW and AAW variants with 32 Sylver VLS cells for Aster-15/30 air defence missiles and MdCN cruise missiles (Not usable for AAW).

French Frigate Fs Courbet (F-712) has visited Turkish port Istanbul on November 22-23rd. The vessel was involved in an incident with Turkish Navy TCG Oruçreis (F-245) in 2020 near Libya. TCG Oruçreis had illumuniated FS Courbet (F-712) with its tracking radar. France had filled a complaint about the vessel to NATO but it was denied.
