With Vietnam: In ongoing stand-off around Chinese oil rig HS981 near Paracel Islands (with up to more than 120 Chinese fishing boats and paramilitary vessels in the area), Vietnam reports three Chinese vessels attacked and intentionally rammed (twice) a Vietnamese fisheries surveillance ship, injuring two officers. Vietnam claims five Chinese navy vessels in the area, however, given hull numbers 09 (tug), 11 (tug), 31, 285 (tug), 2401, 3210 and 13010 correspond only with paramilitary (Coast Guard, CMS, MSA and Fishery patrol) vessels.
