Some “media” claim US aircraft carrier JOHN C STENNIS has begun surge deployment to the Arabian Sea … so “in August there will be four US Navy carrier strike groups in the region”
For the record: STENNIS just this week completed 6-month yard period and should spend several weeks off California with work-up and carrier qualifications. ABRAHAM LINCOLN just completed deployment and set to leave region for scheduled overhaul at Newport News. That should leave ENTERPRISE and (approaching) EISENHOWER.
“Politically motivated” (Israeli) DEBKA reports French aircraft carrier CHARLES DE GAULLE enroute the Persian Gulf … for planned attack on Iran in August … bound for French naval base near Abu Dhabi.
(rmks: entirely unconfirmed; also, moving an aircraft carrier INTO the Gulf ahead of a planned attack would be “operational nonsense”)
