The Brazilian Minister of Defence has stated that Brazil and China have reached an agreement to train Chinese naval personnel in Brazil. Chinese officers will be stationed aboard the NAe São Paulo, Brazil’s aircraft carrier. A Brazilian spokesperson indicated that the Chinese want aircraft carriers to project power. The Brazilians hope that this agreement will lead to defence cooperation in other areas.
