Configuration Changed for Turkish Fast Attack Craft TurDef
STM published a render of the Turkish Fast Attack Craft on social media, underlining that it is a multipurpose craft for reconnaissance and patrol missions. STM repeated the technical configuration of the vessel as well.
Following the social media publication, Naval Architect Kozan S. Erkan wrote on his Twitter account that the vessels will be equipped with four diesel engines. TurDef learned that the upcoming Turkish Fast Attack Craft’s design was changed with a new powerplant configuration and increased displacement.
The powerplant arrangement for the new generation of Turkiye’s fast attack craft was changed from Combined Diesel and Gas (CODAG) to Combined Diesel and Diesel (CODAD). It was stated that stability considerations drove this change. Additionally, CODAD-fitted warships are mostly more fuel-efficient compared to CODAG-fitted ones, at the cost of power generation. Furthermore, the number of water jets will also increase. The previous configuration included three waterjets; this one will have four.
The displacement was increased from 620 tonnes to 700 tonnes, driving the design towards the lower ends of the corvette regime. The increased displacement due to increased diesel engines will be used instead of ballast to decrease roll for better stability at high speeds.
The Turkish Fast Attack Craft’s design published by official sources bears a heavy resemblance to STM’s MPAC design. The ship will be armed with eight ATMACA anti-ship missiles, a 76 mm naval gun, PDMS (to be decided), and RCWS for close-range defence. The ships will replace the ageing fast attack craft classes and operate alongside the Kılıç-class as part of the Turkish Navy’s offensive ASuW capability.

Aksaz Prepares for Reis Class Submarines and TCG Anadolu TurDef
The Turkish Navy invests in the infrastructure of Aksaz Naval Base. After the investment of 350 million euros, TCG Anadolu and AIP Submarines will use the base.
Turkish Navy published the 657th issue of the Naval Forces Magazine. The magazine included an article about the “Project and Study Activities” of the Turkish Naval Forces. The Interview with the First Admiral of the Naval Engineering Class, Rear Admiral Tayfun Öznel, provides information about the future vision of the Turkish Naval Forces.
Öznel said they planned to build a dock, pier, and coastal facilities for the TCG Anadolu L400 and Reis Class submarines at Aksaz Naval Base. He indicated that the project’s total budget would reach 350 million Euros and that financing solutions were being evaluated. The Turkish Defence Ministry recently declared that Aksaz Shipyard Command entered service, too.

MKE’s 76 mm Barrel Enters Inventory on TCG Gaziantep
The Turkish Ministry of National Defence announced on social media that the foreign-made 76 mm main naval gun barrel on TCG Gaziantep has been replaced with an indigenous barrel produced by Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi AŞ (MKE).
The Ministry noted:
“The foreign-manufactured 76 mm main battery gun barrel of TCG Gaziantep frigate has reached the end of its operational life and has been decommissioned. It has been replaced with a locally manufactured 76 mm naval gun barrel produced by MKE using national resources.
During the Mavi Vatan-2025 exercise’s combat readiness training, live-fire tests were successfully conducted using the new MKE-produced 76 mm barrel.”
MKE’s 76 mm naval gun was first integrated into TCG Beykoz, a corvette, where it underwent harbour and sea trials. It was later installed on TCG Akhisar, an Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV). Now, while the entire gun system has not been mounted, its barrel has been commissioned on TCG Gaziantep.
This development marks a significant milestone, enabling the independent usage and potential export of the 76 mm gun barrel, separate from the full gun system.

Names for the Second Batch of I-class Frigates Leaked TurDef
Naval News editor Tayfun Özberk wrote names on his personal social media account.
The four frigates have been named TCG Akdeniz (F-519), TCG Karadeniz (F-520), TCG Ege (F-521), and TCG Marmara (F-522). This is an interesting decision as the ships of the first batch have been given the names of cities starting with the letter “İ”, hence gaining the name I-class (Sometimes İstif-class).Eight frigates will be built as the fifth to twelfth ships of the MİLGEM programme, with TF-2000 AAW destroyers (Names yet to be announced) to follow.

First Deployment of Denizhan Naval Gun on a Frigate
The 76mm/62-caliber naval gun, indigenously developed by Machinery and Chemical Industry (MKE), will be deployed on a frigate for the first time
The Ministry of National Defense announced that the third unit of the 76/62 mm DENİZHAN National Naval Gun, developed by MKE and Istanbul Shipyard Command (ITK), has been delivered to Anadolu Shipyard for integration into TCG İZMİR. Previously, the DENİZHAN system was integrated into the Akhisar and Koçhisar Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV), which have not yet entered active service. The domestically produced naval gun was first integrated into a Burak-class corvette for testing purposes following the ground-based firing tests.

TCG Beykoz Corvette Test-Fires GÖKSUR Air Defence Missile TurDef
ASELSAN and TÜBİTAK SAGE’s joint development GÖKSUR naval short-range air defence missile was fired from the Burak-class corvette TCG Beykoz (F-503).
GÖKSUR’s first firing test was performed on February 16, 2025. The missile developed from TÜBİTAK SAGE’s BOZDOĞAN within visual range air-to-air missile (WVRAAM) was launched from a fixed launcher.
The interesting part of this test is the fixed launcher being the angled configuration of the VLS developed for GÖKSUR 100-N VLS configuration. Thus, the next stages of testing will likely involve vertical launch from the same or another testbed platform.
GÖKSUR missile is the common missile for the GÖKSUR 100 family of point defence missile systems, which consists of GÖKSUR 100-N/StA (Stand-Alone with AKREP 200-N AESA radars and EO/IR, 12 missiles), GÖKSUR 100-N (no onboard sensors, 20 missiles), and GÖKSUR 100-N VLS (Modular vertical launch version).
GÖKSUR missile has folding rear fins to fit inside the cells and a two-way data link for use as an air defence missile. With a range of 15 km, the missile can engage cruise missiles, helicopters, UAVs, and USVs.

Next Hisar-class OPVs Receive VLS and a New Superstructure TurDef
DESAN has begun building the third Hisar-class Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) for the Turkish Navy in a new configuration with VLS and superstructure design.
DESAN and Dearsan will build the next two Hisar class OPVs under a consortium, with the deliveries scheduled between 2028 and 2029. DESAN will build the third ship, P-1222.
The most striking difference in equipment is the presence of ROKETSAN’s VLS in an eight-cell configuration and the ASW rocket launcher just behind.
It is understood that the successful tests with MİDLAS have given confidence in utilising the VLS for Hisar-class OPVs. HİSAR-D RF medium-range air defence missile was successfully fired from TCG İstanbul (F-515) frigate in March 2024 using MİDLAS. Next in the line are the SİPER Block 1D long-range air defence missile and ATMACA anti-ship missile.
The new configuration’s superstructure is highly reminiscent of the I-class frigates, with the same sensors. One might call this new configuration the “Mini I-class”, with the presence of VLS cells also considered.
The first two Hisar-class OPVs, TCG Akhisar (P-1220) and TCG Koçhisar (P-1221), were launched by ASFAT. The lead ship’s sea trials began in December 2024. It is subject to export as well.
