(Luft) Boeing E-7 Wedgetail

Geht es nach der USAF, wird die E-7 die Folge der E-3 antreten:

Based on market research, the Department of the Air Force has decided to replace a portion of the E-3 Sentry Airborne Warning and Control System fleet with the E-7 Wedgetail, which is produced by The Boeing Company.

The Boeing E-7 is the only platform capable of meeting the requirements for the Defense Department’s tactical battle management, command and control and moving target indication capabilities within the timeframe needed to replace the aging E-3.

A contract award is planned in fiscal year 2023.

Dann stellt sich langsam (?) die Frage, ob es für die NATO-AWACS aus Geilenkirchen noch andere Nachfolger geben kann. Einerseits ist die E-7 bereits seit 2015 in Australien voll einsatzfähig (-hier-) und das L-Band-Radar scheint gut zu funktionieren.
Andererseits würde mich interessieren, ob die Leistung soviel höher liegt als jene der "Globaleye" von Saab (-hier-). Die Nutzung eines Business Jet als Plattform ermöglicht dieser nämlich auch Flugzeiten bis 11 Stunden und einen relativ kleinen logistischen "Fußabdruck".
