Hürjet: Leichtes einstrahliges Kampfflugzeug und Trainer

Der Hürjet ist ein leichtes einstrahliges Kampf und Trainingsflugzeug, dass von TUSAŞ Aerospace Industries entwickelt wurde. Die ersten Flugzeuge der unbewaffneten Trainerkonfiguration sollen im Jahr 2027 im Dienst bei der türkischen Luftwaffe gestellt werden und die T-38 als Schulfflugzeug für angehende Jetpiloten der türkischen Luftwaffe ablösen, desweiteren ersetzt der Hürjet die verbliebenen NF-5 der Kunstflugstaffel "Turkish Stars". Spanien ist ein Exportkunde des Hürjets und hat 24 Exemplare bestellt, in Zusammenarbeit mit Airbus werden die Flugzeuge an die Bedürfnisse der spanischen Luftwaffe angepasst, die spanische Variante erhält den Namen Saeta-II. Auf der Saha Expo 2026 wurdeeine Trägervariante des Hürjets im Rahmen einer Präsentation den Publikum vorgestellt.

TUSAŞ has signalled the continuation of HÜRJET’s carrier-borne combat aircraft derivative at SAHA EXPO 2026, including it in its interactive info panel.

TUSAŞ has officially presented the preliminaries for the carrier-borne HÜRJET derivative to be fielded onboard the MUGEM aircraft carrier that will also host a wide array of unmanned platforms.

According to the information on TUSAŞ’s interactive panel at the SAHA EXPO 2026 booth, the carrier-borne HÜRJET will have STOBAR and CATOBAR operation compatibility. STOBAR is MUGEM’s design operating principle, while CATOBAR operation is being kept on the shelf as a future upgrade in case the technology becomes available.

Spanish Perspective on Naval HÜRJET Development for MUGEM TurDef
Naval HÜRJET variant for the Turkish Navy’s MUGEM aircraft carrier has started receiving interest from the public of Spain, which seeks a new naval air wing.

Spain-based defence news platform Defensa y Seguridad has provided a second perspective on TUSAŞ’s development of a naval HÜRJET, with Spain also seeking a new aircraft carrier and alternative suppliers for the combat aircraft, as reported previously.

TUSAŞ recently presented the “Naval HÜRJET” at SAHA EXPO 2026, which could be taken as a clearer declaration of will (Beyond the previous statements) to develop a manned combat aircraft for MUGEM. The official preliminary presentation has naturally gained attention from the European country with a plan for a more capable naval aviation wing in the future.

Second prototype of TUSAŞ’s HÜRJET advanced trainer/light combat aircraft has been spotted with wing pylons and a fuselage pylon, signalling weapons testing.

TUSAŞ is entering the armament phase for HÜRJET, which will be initially introduced as the Turkish Air Force’s new advanced trainer to succeed T-38 trainers.

A photo taken by Enes Ötken shows HÜRJET’s second prototype having donned all possible weapon pylons: Wingtip pylons for WVRAAMs, four wing pylons, and, interestingly, a fuselage pylon. Additionally, what appears to be a camera is seen in front of the fuselage pylon.

Der türkische Strahltrainer Hürjet soll künftig auch als seegestützte Variante für den Flugzeugträgereinsatz verfügbar sein. Die Arbeiten an der neuen Version sollen laut Medienberichten bereits begonnen haben.

Die Türkei arbeitet offiziell an einer seegestützten Variante ihres Überschalljets Hürjet, die für den Einsatz von Flugzeugträgern konzipiert ist. Das bestätigte der öffentlich-rechtliche Sender TRT Haber am 15. Mai unter Berufung auf Industriekreise.

Demnach haben Ingenieure damit begonnen, das landgestützte Grunddesign des Jets für die Bedingungen an Bord eines Kriegsschiffs umzurüsten. Dazu sollen die Kampfflugzeuge mit verstärkten Fahrwerken ausgestattet, die Rumpfstruktur verstärkt und ein Fanghaken integriert werden.

The first HÜRJET built for delivery to the Turkish Air Force completed its maiden flight on Aug. 30, marking a new phase in Türkiye’s advanced jet trainer program.

The aircraft remained airborne for 18 minutes after completing final assembly, ground and taxi tests. The first HÜRJET prototype accompanied the aircraft during the flight.



The milestone is distinct from HÜRJET’s original first flight on April 25, 2023. TUSAŞ has since continued flight and development testing with two prototypes, including supersonic flights.

The aircraft flown on Aug. 30, however, is the first HÜRJET in the delivery configuration intended to enter Turkish Air Force service. Its maiden flight therefore marks the start of customer aircraft flight testing ahead of acceptance and delivery.

An initial batch of six HÜRJETs is planned for the Turkish Air Force. Production of additional delivery-configured aircraft is continuing alongside flight testing and verification with the two development prototypes.

The transition to customer aircraft also has an export dimension. Spain has selected HÜRJET as the aircraft at the core of its new Integrated Training System for combat pilots, with Airbus and TUSAŞ working on a program covering 30 aircraft. The HÜRJET-based aircraft will enter Spanish service as SAETA II and replace the Spanish Air and Space Force’s F-5 trainers. Initial HÜRJET deliveries to Spain are planned for 2028 and 2029 before the aircraft undergo progressive conversion to the Spanish configuration.

Haluk Görgün, head of the Secretariat of Defence Industries, announced the milestone on Aug. 30. The SSB has overseen the HÜRJET program from its launch through development and into the current customer aircraft flight-test phase.

The flight marks HÜRJET’s progression from development prototypes to customer aircraft undergoing flight testing ahead of acceptance and delivery.
