ASELSAN’s ASELFLIR 600 EO/IR, intended for larger UCAVs and other aircraft, has been tested at a distance of approximately 225 km, providing a clear image.
ASELSAN CEO Ahmet Akyol included milestones for ASELFLIR 600 EO/IR system recently tested onboard AKINCI UCAV. The EO/IR is considerably larger and better performing compared to ASELFLIR 500 fielded on Bayraktar TB2 armed UAV, as the successor of CATS, achieved a clear imaging of a facility located 225 km away.

METEKSAN's MİLSAR Radar Gets a Long-Range Maritime Mode TurDef
METEKSAN’s MİLSAR synthetic aperture radar in use with UAVs has received a long-range surface search mode with a range of 90 nautical miles, about 165 km.
MİLSAR, in active service with the Turkish Navy UAVs, has received a dedicated surface search mode for long-range detection of maritime targets.
The new long-range mode has a range of 90 nautical miles or 166.5 km, which opens new possibilities for the Turkish Navy in maritime patrol. UAVs equipped with MİLSAR can support the full-sized MPAs in use by performing patrol flights in considerably larger numbers around the coastline and potentially be employed as remote sensors to provide midcourse updates to anti-ship missiles launched from ships or coastal launchers.

Meteksan Defence unveiled the MİLSAS (Synthetic Aperture Sonar) system, developed under the coordination of the Secretariat of Defence Industries’ R&D Department and with Meteksan as the main contractor, during SAHA Expo 2026.
The project transfers Meteksan’s synthetic aperture imaging experience from airborne radar systems into the underwater domain. The company previously developed the MİLSAR synthetic aperture radar system for airborne platforms and is now applying similar signal-processing and synthetic aperture imaging know-how to acoustic-based underwater imaging.

ASELSAN announced that ASELBUOY P sonobuoy to support ASW operations -compatible with MPAs, UAVs, and helicopters- has entered the serial production stage.
ASELSAN has started the serial production of the ASELBUOY P A-size sonobuoy to be used on maritime patrol aircraft (MPA), ASW helicopters, and UAVs.
ASELBUOY P uses passive acoustic sensing to detect and classify underwater threats and relays its data to the platforms through RF-based communication. Each sonobuoy, weighing 10 kg, has a frequency range of 5-2400 Hz.
ASELSAN has also developed a companion system, ASELBUOY POD, specifically for UAV use. ASELBUOY POD, with a modular structure, can accept various sonobuoy types and provides easy integration on UAVs on a hardpoint basis. TUSAŞ’s AKSUNGUR UCAV, with a notably long endurance, was previously pitched for use in ASW missions with a sonobuoy pod, and it would not be a surprise to see the UCAV being the first to receive the pod in Turkish service.
Inclusion of UAVs in the Turkish Navy’s airborne ASW capabilities mirrors the Turkish Air Force’s vision of having UAVs support electronic warfare and even airborne early warning outside of direct combat use. In this vision, the UAVs are to complement manned platforms with their long endurance and potentially larger numbers to expand coverage and step into danger zones.
