Zitat:The Right Weapon System for the Next 50 years of Multi-Domain Operations
Utility helicopters like the U.S. Army’s Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) fly low and fast, land quickly, deliver Soldiers to the X and get out — all while evading the enemy in complex terrain. Sikorsky and partner Boeing have created an agile, maneuverable weapon system that flies twice as far and twice as fast as the Black Hawk — and fits in the same operational footprint. Combined with Sikorsky-Boeing’s unsurpassed experience in mission systems, training and sustainment, DEFIANT X will revolutionize the way the Army meets threats in 2035 and beyond. DEFIANT X is the best solution for the Army’s mission today, and the only solution able to adapt to the threats of tomorrow.

Ich mache hier mal den Anfang...
Zitat:SIKORSKY-BOEING DEFIANT X

https://defence-blog.com/sikorsky-boeing...otorcraft/

Zitat:Both of Sikorsky’s aircraft offerings for the Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) programs, including RAIDER X, Sikorsky’s offering for the Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA) and DEFIANT X, the Sikorsky-Boeing solution for the Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA), integrate revolutionary advances in sustainment building on two decades of investment in analytics and artificial intelligence by both Sikorsky and Lockheed Martin. This investment includes the development of over a hundred platform-agnostic, predictive-maintenance algorithms and the development of on-board maintenance diagnostics and prognostics that will enable both maintenance-free operating periods (MFOP) and increased operational availability in austere environments and lower life cycle costs.

From infrastructure to analytics, RAIDER X and DEFIANT X are designed to reduce maintenance and improve operating time on several fronts. First and foremost is the digital thread and 3D virtual environment, allowing maintenance teams to look “inside” aircraft with digital tools and models so that teams can provide maintenance on an as-needed basis instead of an inflexible time-based schedule.

“The Army’s legacy fleet uses a limited Health & Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) and the aircraft are sustained with limited information,” says Steiner. “RAIDER X and DEFIANT X will deliver much more actionable maintenance data, providing commanders with real-time information to accurately assess the health state of the weapon systems as well as the ability to self-diagnose maintenance and predict aircraft availability. That increases the operational readiness and availability while reducing life cycle costs associated with the platform.”

FARA - RAIDER X

https://warriormaven.com/land/raider-x-f...craft-fara

Zitat:Launching drones at high speeds to track and attack enemies on the move, finding pockets of hostile forces amid uneven, mountainous terrain, unloading chain gun fire down upon concentrations of dispersed enemy fighters and bringing suppressive fire in support of advancing infantry are all missions the Army’s new Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft are expected to perform.

The new platform, Army senior leaders tell The National Interest, will bring new dimensions to forward scouting, advanced networking and drone attacks in coming years.

FLRAA - DEFIANT X

https://warriormaven.com/land/defiant-x-...black-hawk

Zitat:Slicing through the sky faster than 230 knots, sleeking beneath the radar clutter, maneuvering just above buildings and mountainous terrain to deliver infantry into hostile fire for a massive, coordinated attack, are all mission sets planned for the Army’s now fast-emerging Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA).

Zitat:US futuristic helicopter completes long-endurance flight to Nashville

Sikorsky’s Bill Fell and Boeing’s Ed Henderscheid piloted SB>1 DEFIANT’s momentous 700-nautical miles trip from West Palm Beach, Florida, to Nashville. This is the first time the helicopter has traveled outside of the state of Florida.

“On the trip from West Palm Beach to Nashville, DEFIANT used less than 50 percent of the engine power available and less than 50 percent of the propulsor torque,” Fell said. “There’s a lot more that this machine has to offer. This is the future of Army aviation.”

“DEFIANT behaved flawlessly. Fuel burn was at or even less than what we expected,” Henderscheid said. “This 700-nautical mile trip is the culmination of three years of hard work on this program.”

Wink

Zitat:Honeywell's auxiliary power units selected for Sikorsky-Boeing's Defiant X as testing ramps up

A Lockheed Martin Sikorsky-Boeing team announced on 25 April that it had selected Honeywell's GTCP 36-150 auxiliary power unit (APU), main engine generator, and APU generator for its Defiant X helicopter. The awards come after Honeywell was selected on 10 February to supply the HTS7500 turboshaft engine for the Defiant X platform.

The APU for the Defiant X is a modified derivative of Honeywell's GTCP 36-150 APU series in use with the Boeing AH-64 Apache and CH-47 Chinook helicopters and in several Gulfstream jets, but customised to meet US Army specifications. [...] The 36-150 APU “delivers compressed air for main engine starting, air conditioning, anti-ice, and heating systems. They are capable of delivering air and shaft power simultaneously or individually”, the company said.

Zitat:US Army's FARA engine hits testing milestone

The General Electric T901-GE-900 Improved Turbine Engine (ITE) finished First Engine to Test (FETT) requirements on 28 June, the US Army said on 7 July.

The army had announced on 23 March that it conducted the first ‘light-off' off General Electric's T901 FETT, meaning power was produced by igniting fuel in the engine. That kicked off over 100 flight hours as part of testing procedures. [...]

Preliminary Flight Rating testing will start in the fourth quarter and will continue through 2023. Eight T901 engines will be tested to satisfy Army Military Airworthiness Certification Criteria (AMACC) standards by undergoing 1,500 engine test hours to meet “design, production, and continuing airworthiness”. The army said in total the engine will perform 5,000 hours of testing before full engine qualification.

Zitat:BELLS NEUER KAMPFHUBSCHRAUBER

Aufgepasst, hier kommt Invictus!

Zitat:Italy Air Force chief wants in on US next-gen helicopter tech — pronto

ROME — Italy needs to partner with the United States on the development of coaxial rotor helicopters — and fast — to get the same benefits it earned as an early partner on the F-35 program, according to Italy’s Air Force chief. Gen. Luca Goretti said Italy urgently needs to get in on the ground floor of the technology’s development to avoid playing catch-up later. [...]

Coaxial rotor helicopters, which feature two rotors turning in opposite directions, are under development by a Sikorsky-Boeing team to compete in the U.S. Army’s Future Vertical Lift program. Two platforms, the Defiant X and Raider X, feature pusher propellers that notably increase speed. [...]

“We will be a promoter in Europe of [coaxial] technology, a leader in its development and industrial growth, which will increase in time, as happened with the F-35, where the Germans and Swiss are now looking at us and our maintenance hub in Cameri with a potential interest in our competencies,” Goretti said. [...] “Today they are working on the possibility to fly at 300 knots, to carry out extreme maneuvers and stop immediately, which could be a leap in quality for new generations of helicopters,” Goretti said.
