Zitat:Ukrainian troops here described mounting difficulties in stopping the Russian advances around Bakhmut, the site of this winter’s heaviest fighting in the 11-month-old war.
Russia on Sunday claimed the capture of another village in the Bakhmut area as its forces try to surround the city and force a Ukrainian retreat.
Zitat:To the north, Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Wagner Group paramilitary force that has spearheaded the Russian attack on Bakhmut, claimed on Sunday that the unit had captured the village of Blahodatne. Ukraine’s armed forces disputed the claim, saying that their troops had repelled Russian attacks on Blahodatne.
Klishchiivka, to the southwest, was now under Russian control, soldiers in the area said, and Ukrainians are fighting to hold onto Ivanivske, due west of Bakhmut. Only one road into Bakhmut, from the northwest, remains entirely in Ukrainian control.
