Zitat:Iran dismisses joint UAE-U.S. statement on Iranian islands
TEHRAN, June 28 (MNA)
...
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the deputy foreign minister for Arab and African Affairs, said on Thursday that these islands are “inseparable” part of Iran’s lands and “the interference of third countries (in the issue) is aimed at causing rift and creating tension in the region.”

The United Arab Emirates has been claiming ownership over the three Iranian islands. The UAE-U.S. joint statement followed a meeting between President Barrack Obama and the emirates’ Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nuhayan at the White House on Wednesday.

Zitat:U.S. and Gulf Allies Pursue a Missile Shield Against Iranian Attack

WASHINGTON — The United States and its Arab allies are knitting together a regional missile defense system across the Persian Gulf to protect cities, oil refineries, pipelines and military bases from an Iranian attack, according to government officials and public documents. It is an enterprise that is meant to send a pointed message to Tehran, and that becomes more urgent as tensions with Iran rise. But it will require partner nations in the gulf to put aside rivalries, share information and coordinate their individual arsenals of interceptor missiles to create a defensive shield encompassing all the regional allies. [...]

Three weeks ago the Pentagon announced the newest addition to Persian Gulf missile defense systems, informing Congress of a plan to sell Kuwait $4.2 billion in weaponry, including 60 Patriot Advanced Capability missiles, 20 launching platforms and 4 radars. This will be in addition to Kuwait’s arsenal of 350 Patriot missiles bought between 2007 and 2010. [...] And the United States has deployed a number of land-based missile defense systems to defend specific American military facilities located around the gulf.

Iranische Cyberattacke in Katar und Saudi Arabien?

Zitat:Second Middle East energy company hit by malware

31 August 2012
Qatari liquified natural gas company RasGas has suffered a malware attack reminiscent of the attack against the Saudi Aramco oil company last week. It is not known if either the attackers or the malware used are the same.
...
Comparison with last week’s attack against Aramco is inevitable. In that attack Aramco suffered damage to 30,000 PCs, although Aramco claims the PCs have now been recovered. The Shamoon virus is widely believed to be the culprit, although the attackers and their motives are not clear. Shamoon has data stealing capabilities but then attempts to clear its tracks by wiping the computer’s hard drive and making it unusable.

Shamoon has been compared to the Wiper cyberweapon, but Kaspersky has dismissed it as a poor copy. Nevertheless, cyber conflict analyst Jeffrey Carr believes that Shamoon may be a politically motivated cyberweapon, and that Iran might be behind it.

Zitat:Iran denies claims it trespassed on Saudi territory
TEHRAN, Nov. 21 (MNA) – Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast on Tuesday dismissed claims of Iran’s infringements of off-shore oil facilities in the eastern region of Saudi Arabia.

Mehmanparast made the remarks during his regular press briefing in reply to a question about the fact that the Kuwait News Agency reported on November 7 that the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United Nations, Abdallah Al-Mouallimi, had written a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, claiming that last July an Iranian helicopter hovered several times over oil rig sites in the Hasba field, and on another occasion two Iranian military launches intercepted and stopped a vessel belonging to a Saudi Aramco contractor in the area.

According to the report, part of the letter, the text of which was released on November 7, read, “The government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reserves its right to take any action it deems fit in order to protect its waters and oil installations, and holds the Iranian authorities fully responsible for all possible consequences.”

Tensions between Iran, Gulf states continue to flare amid inflammatory accusations by Tehran over 'toxic gas,' arms buys.

Comments that Iran’s deputy foreign minister made Tuesday sparked the latest diplomatic spat with Bahrain, after Hossein Amir-Abdollahian accused the Sunni-ruled island country of using “toxic gas” to suppress Shi’ite protesters.
...
Maj.-Gen. Yahya Rahim Safavi, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and a former Revolutionary Guards commander, accused Gulf states this week of spending billions of dollars on arms to carry out a “US and Israeli plot,” according to Iran’s state media. However, Safavi did not elaborate on what that plot might entail.

“We warn smaller countries that petrodollars cannot make them play key roles in the region,” he warned.

The Saudi diplomat involved in the deadly drunk driving accident in Tehran has been barred from leaving the country until the legal status of his case is determined, a senior Iranian lawmaker says.

The Saudi diplomat had several bottles of alcoholic drinks in his car, he added.
