Kacır; SOM-J achieves full engagement on sea target test TurDef
The SOM-J was made by TÜBİTAK SAGE and Roketsan working together. During telemetry analysis, it showed that it could fly steadily, hit its target wit precision, and follow all of its mission requirements. Mehmet Fatih Kacır, the Minister of Industry and Technology, said the test "shows how advanced Türkiye's engineering skills are."

SOM-J performed its cruise in sea-skimming conditions, differently from the previous test. Sea skimming is a common technique to evade detection from enemy defences by taking advantage of horizon effects. Sea skimming also reduces the chances of being hit when coupled with terminal manoeuvres.

Submarine-Launched ATMACA Hits Moving and Static Targets TurDef Rendering of AKATA (Kaan Azman)
Submarine-Launched variant of ATMACA anti-ship missile, AKATA, successfully hit moving sea targets and a static land targets during its recent firing test.

CNN Turk reported that the firing test of AKATA conducted last week involved moving sea targets and static land targets. The test has demonstrated AKATA as not only a stand-off anti-ship missile but also a land attack option upon need.

AKATA is one leg of ROKETSAN's efforts to develop submarine-based missile capabilities through underwater launch capsules for torpedo tubes. Future munitions to be adapted for underwater launch include the GEZGİN cruise missile and air defence missiles for self-defence.
