Die Werksabnahmetest des von Aselsan hergestellten Miisionssystem ASOJ-23A sind abgeschlossen, nun können die Arbeiten an der Integration in die vier Bombardier Global 6000 Business Jets beginnen.
Es sollen auch Drohnen vom Typ Akinci für die Stand Off Jammer Aufgabe ausgerüstet werden.

The Turkish air force requirement to stop enemy radar and communication systems from functioning during offensive operations will allow offensive aircraft to enter safe zones. The Hava SOJ will stay airborne during operational missions for up to eight hours.
The three main onboard communications systems, comprising a communications jammer, radar jammer and communications intelligence/electronic intelligence (COMINT/ELINT), have all been developed by the Turkish company.
Testing was completed on the test-bed simulator last December and the system will be integrated into the first Global 6000 at Ankara-based Turkish Aerospace, which is partnering with Aselsan on the programme.
First flight awaits certification, a lengthy process that is expected to take up to two years.
Factory acceptance for the second and third Hava SOJs is expected this year, and integration will then follow the first example. All four Hava SOJ Global 6000s ordered in this configuration should be delivered to the Turkish air force by 2028.
In another similar project, known as IHA SOJ Hedet (UAV, stand-off jammer, communication electronic warfare), two Bayrak Bayraktar Akinci unmanned aircraft systems are being developed for jamming operations as well. One example will house a COMINT system and a COMINT jammer, and the other a ELINT system and ELINT jammer, with the ability to stay airborne for 17-18 hours.
Contracted in late 2023, both versions should be delivered by late-2026.
Aselsan has also worked on a Bayraktar TB2 jammer that was delivered in 2022 and which the company says is already combat-proven. Equipped with a 11kg electronic attack pod under each wing, the system operates in three different frequencies. The same source claims it can be fitted onto any Bayraktar TB2 within an hour.
The pod has also been fitted on the Turkish Aerospace Anka as well as the Bayraktar Akinci.

Bayraktar TB3 UCAV was used for the first time as part of the EFES-2024 Combined Joint Practical Firing Land Exercise.
One of the largest planned exercises of the Turkish Armed Forces, EFES-2024 Combined Joint Practical Firing Land Exercise’s Practical Firing Land Phase is being carried out between 9-30 May in the Gulf of Izmir and Doğanbey Firing Area.
On this matter, the Ministry of National Defence held a press briefing on the Distinguished Observer Day of the EFES-2024 Exercise. In the statement made by the Ministry of National Defence, remarks were made about the systems used during the exercise. The following remarks were made in the statement:

ASELSAN Modernises E-7T AEW&C Aircraft
TUSAŞ has announced the maiden flight of the E-7T Peace Eagle AEW&C aircraft modernised with ASELSAN's ESM/ELINT systems. The modernisation carried out by ASELSAN replaced the Israeli EL/L-8382 system, and the maiden flight was made in June 2024, according to TUSAŞ magazine's 137th issue. Following the ESM/ELINT system localisation, the E-7T aircraft will additionally receive a more comprehensive modernisation.
E-7T is one of the backbones of Turkiye's situational awareness, with its long-range radar and onboard ESM/ELINT systems performing detection and providing information to all forces. The modernisation of ESM/ELINT capability with locally made systems is important, as well as the freedom of modifications and single libraries that can be formed without the risk of foreign observation.
E-7 is also used by the ROK (as Peace Eye) and Australia (as E-7A Wedgetail). The aircraft will serve as an interim replacement for the ageing E-3 Sentry during the AFSC family of systems development as the future NATO AEW&C platforms.

Nachdem die Türkei ihre 100 bestellten F-35A Jagdbomber abschreiben musste, nachdem die erste Trump-Regierung sie wegen des Kaufs russischer S400 Luftabwehrsysteme vom Joint Strike Fighter [JSF] Programm ausgeschlossen hatte, sagte sie zunächst, dass sie von Washington eine finanzielle Entschädigung verlangen würde [1,4 Milliarden Dollar]. Im Jahr 2021 teilte sie dann mit, dass sie schließlich die Genehmigung für den Kauf von 40 F-16 Viper und 79 Umrüstungskits für die F-16 der älteren Generation, die von ihren Luftstreitkräften eingesetzt werden, beantragen werde.
Während einige einflussreiche Kongressabgeordnete sich gegen den potenziellen Verkauf von F-16V aussprachen, nutzte die Biden-Regierung die Gelegenheit, um Druck auf die Türkei auszuüben, um die Aufnahme Finnlands und Schwedens in die NATO zu erleichtern.
Nachdem diese abgeschlossen waren, gab die für den Export von US-Militärgütern zuständige Defense Security Cooperation Agency [DSCA] grünes Licht für den potenziellen Verkauf von 40 F-16V, 78 Nachrüstsätzen, 401 Luft-Luft-Raketen AIM-9X Block II Sidewinder, 952 Raketen AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM und 864 Bomben GBU-39/B an die Türkei für einen geschätzten Wert von 23 Milliarden US-Dollar.
In der Zwischenzeit hatte die Türkei jedoch ihre Pläne geändert. Während die Idee, 40 F-16 Viper zu bestellen, noch immer aktuell war, gab sie ihre Absicht bekannt, 40 Eurofighter Typhoon / EF-2000 zu kaufen, obwohl Deutschland dagegen war. Die F-16 der älteren Generation sollten im Rahmen des ÖZGÜR-Programms modernisiert werden.
Wie auch immer, die Planeten passten schließlich zusammen. Am 12. November gab der türkische Verteidigungsminister Yaşar Güler bekannt, dass der Vertrag über den Kauf von 40 F-16 Viper gerade unterzeichnet worden sei... und dass der Vertrag über 40 Typhoon / EF-2000 auf dem besten Wege sei, unterzeichnet zu werden, nachdem Berlin seine Einwände zurückgenommen habe.
„Derzeit sind unsere Beziehungen zu unseren amerikanischen Freunden sehr positiv. [...] Ich denke, es kann noch weiter gehen. Wir wollen 40 F-16 Viper kaufen und sie werden es auch: die Verträge wurden unterzeichnet. Und wir werden auch 40 Eurofighter Typhoon-Flugzeuge kaufen. Deutschland hat sich lange dagegen gesträubt, hat aber schließlich dank unserer NATO-Freunde Großbritannien, Italien und Spanien nachgegeben“, sagte Herr Güler in einem Interview mit dem Fernsehsender TV100. Der Minister nannte weder den Wert der F-16V Bestellung noch den Zeitplan für die Lieferung.
Die Türkei hat zwar mit der Kaan [die im Februar erstmals flog] die Entwicklung eines Kampfflugzeugs der „fünften Generation“ eingeleitet, riskiert aber ohne die Indienststellung neuer Jagdbomber eine „Fossilisierung“ ihrer Kampfflugzeuge [der Iran steht vor einem ähnlichen Problem]. Und dies, während Griechenland, das die F-35 kaufen darf, 24 Rafale erwarb und gleichzeitig einen Teil seiner F-16 auf den Viper-Standard umrüstet.
Zur Erinnerung: Die F-16 Block 70/72 „Viper“ verfügt über die Verbindung 16 und ist mit einem APG-83 SABR AESA-Radar, einem fortschrittlichen Missionscomputer, einem Center Pedestal Display und verbesserter Konnektivität ausgestattet.

Was den EF-2000 angeht so ist noch nichts unter Dach und Fach, in letzter Instanz wird der Bundessicherheitsrat entscheiden ob ein Deal stattfindet. Die Türkei hat genau so Forderungen, dazu zählt z.B die Integration eigener Lenkwaffen. Letztendlich ist die EF-2000 Beschaffung eine nichts weiter als eine Übergangslösung bis die Eigenentwickelten Kampfflugzeuge des Typs Kaan in ausreichender Stückzahl verfügbar sind.

"Ausreichend" ist eine interessante Wortwahl, die Turkei fliegt bis heute Phantom offensichtlich weil nie eine "ausreichende" Zahl an F-16 beschafft werden konnte. Auch mit den neuen Bestellungen (F-16V und Eurofighter) werden perspektivisch über 200 weitaus ältere Maschinen zu ersetzen sein. Ich denke wir können davon ausgehen, dass die neuen Flugzeuge eine lange Zeit im Dienst der türkischen Luftstreitkräfte stehen werden.

Man fliegt die Phantom nicht weil man nicht eine ausreichende Anzahl F-16 beschaffen konnte, sondern weil man aus dem F-35 Programm ausgeschlossen wurde. Die türkische Luftwaffe verfügt über ungefähr 240 F-16 C/D der Konfigurationen Block 30/40/50 & 50+ mit CFT, dass ist genug für ein Mehrzweckkampfflugzeug. Es fehlen mehr Flugzeuge die für Luftüberlegenheit geeignet sind und Jabos vergleichbar der F15 E die eine hohe Waffenlast tragen können.

Turkish MoD released footage of KORKUT SPAAG being utilised for fire support against PKK terrorists in the Claw-Lock operation zone in Iraq.
In most cases, fire support in ground forces is a mission left to tanks, IFVs, and artillery, but sometimes, the potential of air defence weaponry in said missions is brought up.
KORKUT 35 mm SPAAG's use for fire support in the Turkish Army's counter-terrorism operations is one recent example of such a situation. Thanks to being compatible with HE-I ammunition alongside ATOM airburst ammunition of ASELSAN, the dual-barreled SPAAG with a combined fire rate of 1100 RPM can sometimes be more effective at suppressing enemy personnel than tanks.

Der Ersatz der Phantom hätte schon zum Zeitpunkt des Terminator-Upgrades geschehen müssen, einige Jahre später erfolgte dann ja tatsächlich die Beschaffung weiterer F-16 explizit als Überbrückungslösung zur F-35. Zwischenzeitlich ging es mit der Ausmusterung der Aufklärervariante der Phantom ja auch ziemlich schnell. Insofern ist das Argument wenig stichhaltig.

Beides ist aber die Phantom nicht, deren Einsatzprofil entspricht im wesentlichen dem der F-16 und hätte ohne Probleme durch diese ersetzt werden können. Mit Zulauf der F-35 hätten die ältesten Maschinen (die aktuell ja auch schon weit über 30 Jahre alt sind) ersetzt werden können. Das Problem war aber immer die fehlenden Mittel um für eine ausreichende Ausstattung zu sorgen. Und deshalb bin ich gespannt, wie sich die Beschaffung des Kaan letztlich gestalten wird. Ich gehe durchaus davon aus, dass wir auch in zwanzig Jahren noch F-16 und Eurofighter (so die Beschaffung reibungslos verläuft) im Dienst der türkischen Luftwaffe sehen werden.

New Turkish F-16 Plan Lowers the Budget
Turkiye cut F-16 procurement budgets without giving up on missiles and ammunition. The new plan without modernisation kits is limited to $7 billion.
Turkish Defence Minister Yaşar Güler presented the ministry’s 2025 budget to the Parliament and provided detailed information about the most recent procurement programmes.
It is known that Turkish–U.S. negotiations over F-16 procurement have been at a stall for a long time. The U.S. DSCA announced the procurement plans with $23 billion on January 26, 2024. The initial plan included the procurement of 40 F-16 Vipers, modernisation kits to upgrade 79 F-16 jets to Block 70 level, and various missiles and ammunition.
According to Güler’s statement, Turkiye will acquire 40 F-16 Viper as planned. The modernisation kits are no longer in the interest as Turkiye will continue with the Özgür Project. Turkiye will also acquire ammunition and missiles.

Turkiye Changes its F-16 Block 70 and F-35 Strategy
Speaking at the Committee on Plan and Budget, Turkish Minister of Defence Yaşar Güler signalled a possible change of strategy on F-35 fighters and F-16s.
During his speech, Güler gave an update regarding the U.S.’s stance on the delivery of F-35 fighter jets to Turkiye:
“After we developed the KAAN fighter jet, the U.S. officials have changed their mind regarding the F-35. They are now saying that they can deliver the jets. We re-sent our offer for F-35.”
In response to a member of the Turkish Grand National Assembly’s question on whether Turkiye will re-join the F-35 production line, Güler said:
“We insisted on our share of the production line being given back and sent our request for 40 F-35 fighter jets.”
In an exclusive interview, U.S. sources answering TurDef’s inquiry regarding the possibility of Turkiye returning to the F-35 JSF programme stated that Turkiye’s previous role as an essential industrial partner in the program, from producing central fuselages to being even a sole component supplier is acknowledged. The sources added that growing global demand for the F-35 could open room for renewed Turkish involvement.
