On August 29, 2024, images circulating on social media confirmed the recent arrival of four Bell 412EPX helicopters on Somali soil. The delivery of these aircraft comes at a time when the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) has begun the gradual withdrawal of its troops, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolutions 2628 and 2670. By equipping Somalia with these advanced helicopters, Italy significantly contributes to strengthening the Somali government's response capabilities in the face of internal security challenges. This initiative is seen as a key step in consolidating national security at a time when Somalia is increasingly taking on responsibilities in the fight against threats within its territory.
