SSB Announces Contracts for Air Defence and Missiles TurDef
Secretary of Defence Industries Haluk Görgün announced the contracts between ASELSAN and ROKETSAN for air defence and missile systems totalling $6.5 billion.

No details on the coverage of the contracts have been provided, with the title “Air Defence and Missile Systems” hinting that it might not be limited to the Steel Dome integrated air defence system.

With the production and deliveries ongoing for Steel Dome’s key components, such as SİPER, HİSAR-O, KORKUT, and electronic warfare systems, if not all, at least a major portion of the new contracts will facilitate the needed expansion of Steel Dome for the comprehensive protection of the mainland.

Other major investments and contracts have been announced over the course of past few months to bolster the air defence capabilities, such as two major deals for air defence systems (€1.12 billion and €1.65 billion) with ASELSAN announced on KAP and the Oğulbey Technology Centre to provide both production and R&D support for Steel Dome.

At Istanbul Shipyard Command, a wide-ranging naval ceremony marked the induction, flag-raising and construction milestones of several surface and sub-surface platforms for the Turkish Navy and partner countries. The event, attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, brought together senior military leadership, defence officials and foreign naval representatives, highlighting the scale reached by Türkiye’s naval shipbuilding and export programmes.



During the ceremony, three platforms officially entered service with the Turkish Navy: the TCG Hızırreis submarine, the Ç-159 landing ship and the ULAQ unmanned surface vehicle. In parallel, export deliveries for Pakistan were formalised, while construction activity continued for offshore patrol vessels intended for both national use and foreign customers.

TUSAŞ CEO Mehmet Demiroğlu stated that a new kamikaze UAV and helicopter project will be unveiled in May 2026 at the SAHA EXPO 2026 defence exhibition.

TUSAŞ’s CEO, speaking to TRT News at World Defence Show 2026, stated that SAHA EXPO 2026, to be held at the beginning of May, will be a scene for TUSAŞ’s new projects. Mehmet Demiroğlu gave a summary of what can be expected from the upcoming exhibition by saying:

“We are planning to exhibit a few products in the kamikaze UAV category. Time will tell if it will be all of it or some of it. Also, we will be announcing new products -both manned and unmanned- in the helicopter category for the first time.”

Previously, a trademark “AYAZ Kamikaze Jet UAV” was spotted on the website of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, which is an entity of the Ministry of Industry and Technology. On the same website, another name, ATLAS, has also been seen with the context remaining unclear.

The Capital Markets Board (SPK) has given the green light for Empa Elektronik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.'s initial public offering (IPO). The company has been a provider of electronic parts and technical solutions to Türkiye's defence and aerospace sector for a long time. Halk Yatırım will be in charge of the offering, and the share price will be TRY 22.

The IPO is a combination of a capital increase and a sale of current shareholders. In order to achieve its goal of increasing its issued capital from TRY 141 million to TRY 170 million, the firm intends to sell an additional 9 million nominal shares to its current shareholders in addition to issuing 29 million nominal shares.
