India Test Fires Air-Launched Variant Of BrahMos Supersonic Cruise Missile

The Air version of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was successfully test fired from the supersonic fighter aircraft Sukhoi 30 MK-I at 1030 hrs from Integrated Test Range, Chandipur off the coast of Odisha on December 08, 2021. [...] The BrahMos missile has the capability of attacking land and surface (ship) targets by flying as low as five metres in altitude (maximum altitude it can fly is 15,000 metres). It has a diameter of 70 cm and a wingspan of 1.7 meter. It can reach a top speed of Mach 3.5, and has a maximum range of 650 km. The ship-launched and land-based missiles can carry a 200 kg warhead, whereas the aircraft-launched variant (BrahMos A) can carry a 300 kg warhead.
