ARIS - MBDA said July 17 it has signed a framework agreement with Polish partner Bumar to modernize Poland's ground-based air defense system, combining vertical launch Mica and Aster 30 weapons with radars and command and control from local industry.
MBDA CEO Antoine Bouvier and his counterpart at the Bumar group, Edward Nowak, "met in France to sign a framework agreement between their two organizations," MBDA said in a statement. The meeting occurred July 1
The full details of the final agreement will be established and formalized during the next two months in readiness for its signature this autumn,' the company said.
The preliminary pact covers development, production, delivery and marketing of the future air defense missile system.
No financial or competitive details were immediately available.
Under the deal, the two companies will exchange technology under a long term cooperation which will allow an optimization of investments, the company said.
The new system will draw on MBDA's short-range vertical launch Mica and medium-range Aster 30 missiles, while the radars and command and control systems will come from the telecommunications research institute Przemysłowy Instytut Telekomunikacji (PIT) and Radwar, a company in the Bumar group, one of Poland's largest defense equipment manufacturers....
