Zitat:This year, the Serbian and Montenegrin Armed Forces (SMAF) will put a large amount of surplus armament on sale, and the list includes more than 200 T-55 tanks and around 300,000 pieces of infantry weapons, "Vojska" weekly says. The article says that more than 2,500 anti-aircraft 20-mm guns, over 750 pieces of artillery weapons, 203 self-propelled guns and a lot of other weaponry will be put on sale. The T-55 tanks may not be sold, because, since the fall of the Warsaw Pact, there have been around 20,000 surplus T-55 tanks in the world. A fully operating T-55 tank used to cost around 50,000 dollars on the world market, but since the market is nowadays flooded, the price has been reduced drastically. As scrap iron, a 35t T-55 is worth around 2,000 euros.
Among a large amount of surplus and outdated armament and military equipment that the SMAF renounced, 90,000 M-48 trophy rifles and semiautomatic "papovka" rifles have been sold during the last two years, mostly in the US and Canadian market, "Vojska' weekly says. Outdated 105-mm howitzers and modernised Russian anti-tank 76-mm guns have been sold so far, and the sale of domestic 130-mm guns is currently in procedure.
