Die arabischen Ölstaaten plagt bei humanitären Projekten im In- und Ausland gerne mal das Problem, dass sie über eine wenig ausgeprägte Zivilgesellschaft verfügen in der sich Menschen in Hilfsorganisationen engagieren, geschweige denn über entsprechende Ausbildung verfügen. Weiterhin fehlen es oft an entsprechenden staatlichen Strukturen, die so etwas autark organisieren können.

Aus der Region der arabischen und nicht-arabischen Welt kommt aber durchaus Hilfe nach Somalia:

JEDDAH: The International Islamic Relief Organization-Saudi Arabia (IIROSA) has provided urgent food relief to Somali people suffering from famine due to drought and lack of rain, Secretary-General of the Organization Adnan bin Khalil Basha announced. He said the organization has during the past few days distributed 145 tons of dates, ready meals, clothes and clean potable water to famine victims in Somalia and added that more food would be distributed soon.
