Zitat:Baykal blasts govt for involvement in corruption
The New Anatolian / Ankara
15 March 2007
The main opposition leader yesterday accused the ruling party, government and Istanbul Greater Municipality of being knee-deep in corruption.
Speaking at the group meeting of his Republican People's Party (CHP), party leader Deniz Baykal claimed that during Justice and Development (AK) Party's four-plus years of rule, "Turkey was robbed and gang formation has been endemic."
In fall 2002, the AKP was swept into power on an anti-corruption platform.
"You are besieging the judicial system and expect it to make sound verdicts on claims against this government's prime minister," said Baykal. "A tender given out for TL 12 trillion was later handed over to another company for TL 6 trillion. We don't know whose pockets the other TL 6 trillion went to. Corruption is not only one or two cases in Turkey but rather it has become systematic."
