Iran, Tajikistan ink hydroplant deal
10:08:55 Þ.Ù
Dushanbe, Dec 20 - Iran and Tajikistan inked an agreement here on Friday to implement the Sangtoodeh hydroplant project in the central Asian state.
The agreement was signed by the visiting Iranian Minister of Economy and Finance Tahmasb Mazaheri and his Tajik counterpart Hakim Soliyev.
Under the agreement, Iran would provide a 360-million-dollar budget for implementation of the project.
During the ceremony to ink the agreement, Mazaheri called on Tajik authorities to cooperate with the firms implementing the project and adopt measures to prevent any delay in the project's implementation.
Speaking to reporters after the signing of the agreement, Mazaheri said a delegation of Tajik experts would travel to Iran within the next two weeks to follow up the preparations for the project.
A joint committee is to be set up comprising the two states' representatives to monitor the proper implementation of the project, to find solutions to the eventual drawbacks and to report the executive works to their relevant governments.
The 670-megawatts Sangtoodeh hydroplant is to be set up on the coast of Vakhsh river, 120 kilometer southeast of Tajikistan's capital.
