It was the so called "palestinian" style attack, when an Abrams struck three antitank mines, burried in the ground one on top of another. I believe two crewman that survived were only partly inside the turret so that the blast threw them out. Palestinians use these tactics against Merkavas. Once 200kg of burried TNT blasted the tank 6m in air, but still two crewmen survived!!!! However, the blast destroyed 23 Palestinian houses...:bonk:

The description of the pictures was;

In Iraq, a US 4th Infantry Division tank was destroyed (and two of the four man crew killed, another was wounded) when they rolled over three anti-tank mines, buried in the road, one on top of another. The incident occurred on October 28th, 40 kilometers northeast of Balad at about 7 PM.
