'Education Ministry's book project is part of govt's ideological war'

he Education Ministry introduced a controversial book project to line the pockets of Islamist publishing houses, claimed a former official of the ministry on Friday.

Speaking to the New Anatolian about certain Islamist publishers' work on the "100 Classics" project of the Education Ministry, Unal Ozmen charged that Education Minister Huseyin Celik and bureaucrats loyal to him are openly pursuing their agenda to inculcate Islamist ideas in the minds of primary school children.

They are even skilled at snuffing out public protest, he added.
