Büyükanıt: Size of army to be cut by 30 pct

The decrease in the size of the Land Forces will strengthen the army by allowing advances in equipment and mobility, says the new chief of general staff

General Yaşar Büyükanıt, who will replace Gen. Hilmi Özkök as chief of general staff on Aug. 30, said that in the coming years the size of the Land Forces will be cut by up to 30 percent to transform the army into a more mobile force with brigades that have increased firepower.
