Heavy fighting for Somali capital

Fighting has intensified in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, on the third day of clashes, which have killed 49 people.

An alliance of warlords and an Islamist militia are battling with mortars, rocket-propelled grenades and heavy machine guns in northern districts.

Battle for Somali capital resumes

Heavy fighting has resumed in Somalia's capital despite a brief lull following a ceasefire, with almost 100 dead and hundreds more wounded in the clashes.

An alliance of warlords and an Islamist militia have fought each other over the past four days in northern districts.
