Germany’s armed forces received their first operational Kleinfluggerät Zielortung (KZO) unmanned aerial vehicles Nov. 28 from Rheinmetall Defense Electronics, Bremen, a subsidiary of Rheinmetall AG, Düsseldorf.
The KZO has been designed to support German Army troops during out-of-area missions. With a wingspan of less than 4 meters, the KZO can detect stationary or moving targets for a duration of 3.5 hours, Rheinmetall said in a Nov. 28 news release.
