The construction of the Peace Eagle, one of the four early warning and control system aircrafts (AWACS) Turkish Armed Forces ordered, continue in Seattle-based Boeing facilities.
Three AWACS will be brought in undercoat to the Turkish Aviation and Space Industry (TAI) facilities. All modification, integration, installation, functional test, and delivery operations of the aircrafts will be conducted by Turkish engineers and technicians. In addition to TAI, other Turkish companies such as Turkish Airlines, Aselsan, Havelsan, MSKAS and Mikes will also have a pitch in the project under Boeing expertise. The project began in July 2003 and is estimated to cost over a billion US dollars including the ground systems as well. The first aircraft delivery is expected in 2008.
