In Iran werden 20 AKW gebaut

TEHERAN, 28. März (RIA Nowosti). Das Parlament Irans hat einen Gesetzentwurf über den Bau neuer Atomkraftwerke mit einer Gesamtkapazität von 20 000 Megawatt ratifiziert.

"Die Medschlis der Islamischen Republik hat den Vorschlag der parlamentarischen Kommission für Energiewirtschaft über den Bau neuer Atomkraftwerke ratifiziert, deren Gesamtkapazität sich auf 20 000 Megawatt belaufen soll", gab der Vorsitzende der Kommission, Kamal Daneshyar, am Montag vor Journalisten bekannt.

Ihm zufolge "wird mit der Inbetriebnahme der neuen Kapazitäten, die in den nächsten zehn Jahren erfolgen soll, der noch offene Bedarf des Landes an Elektroenergie voll gedeckt".

Der Parlamentarier wollte nicht näher darauf eingehen, wo genau die neuen Atomkraftwerke errichtet werden sollen.

EU studying Iranian plan for small-scale uranium enrichment

LONDON, March 26 (IranMania) - The EU is considering an Iranian proposal to allow the Islamic republic to produce enriched uranium on a small scale, despite the bloc's demand that Tehran abandon enrichment to guarantee it will not make atom bombs, officials and diplomats said Thursday.

Iran made the written proposal to be allowed to run a pilot centrifuge project for uranium enrichment at a meeting in Paris on Wednesday with EU negotiators Britain, France and Germany, according to a European official who asked not to be named.

The European trio said in a joint statement released after the meeting that Iran had "presented certain ideas on objective guarantees that Iran's nuclear program is exclusively for peaceful purposes."

But neither they nor Iran provided details.
