UK admits delay to Type 45 in-service date

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has finally admitted that the in-service date (ISD) for the first of the Royal Navy's (RN's) Type 45 'D'-class destroyers has slipped from November 2007 to May 2009. It has also revealed that the overall cost of the programme has risen by more than £150 million, but has refused to specify the full level of escalation on grounds of commercial sensitivity.
