Five days after Prime Minister Ariel Sharon called on French Jewry to immigrate to Israel, 200 French Jews are slated to arrive in the country this week under the framework of the “Communal Aliyah” project.

The 200 Jews, mainly families with young children, will arrive primarily from Paris and Marseille and will be taken to Jerusalem, Ashdod, Ashkelon and Netanya.

The olim (Jewish immigrants) are slated to arrive in Israel on Wednesday and will be received by Minister of Immigrant Absorption Tzipi Livni and Jewish Agency Chairman Salai Meridor.

Ya’akov Am-Shalem, who heads the project that is organized by the Immigration Ministry, said that hundreds of French Jews are expected to make aliyah in the coming months, many of whom because of the rising anti-Semitism in France.
