Turkey pulls out its forces from Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Turkish Ministry of National Defense said on Thursday that it withdrew its forces participating in the NATO Mission in Iraq (NMI) from the country because of the regional conflict.

Last Friday, NATO asked its staff members in Iraq to withdraw, although Iraq said it was a temporary step aiming to maintain the personnel’s safety. The spokesperson for the Turkish Ministry of National Defense, Zeki Akturk, said during a press briefing on Thursday that NATO ordered the evacuation of NMI personnel because of the recent developments in the region.
