Detection Under Complex Conditions
Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defense said that on December 15, 2025, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) approaching Turkish airspace from the direction of the Black Sea was detected, prompting the immediate launch of identification, tracking, and assessment procedures.
The ministry said all actions were taken in line with existing legislation and standard operational procedures.
According to the statement, the UAV’s altitude, speed, size, and low radar cross-section made detection and identification difficult.
For that reason, the assessment did not rely on a single sensor.
Instead, Turkish forces cross-verified data obtained from radar, electro-optical systems, electronic warfare assets, and early warning systems.
