Type 214TN Submarine TCG Hızırreis Enters Turkish Navy Service TurDef
The Turkish Navy’s second Reis-class Submarine, TCG Hızırreis (S-331), has been delivered to the Turkish Navy jointly by TKMS and Gölcük Naval Shipyard.

Photos of the commissioning ceremony for TCG Hızırreis AIP submarine at Gölcük Shipyard have been shared by Germany's TKMS, but the Turkish MoD has not announced the commissioning yet.

The first of the Reis-class AIP submarines, TCG Pirireis (S-330), entered service in 2024.

Reis-class submarines are the first in the Turkish Navy to utilise AIP propulsion, which enables longer underwater endurance and reduced noise signature. In addition to this, increased share of indigenous systems -including sensors, combat management, and weaponry- also makes this class a milestone on the road to the MİLDEN national submarine programme.

Reis-class can use various weaponry produced by ROKETSAN, including the AKYA heavy torpedoes and AKATA, a submarine-launched variant of ATMACA anti-ship missile using a tube-compilant capsule. In the future, the GEZGİN cruise missile, which can be launched from torpedo tubes like AKATA, will be added to the submarine’s arsenal as a dedicated land attack option.
