Bangladesh in Talks for OTOKAR’s TULPAR Light Tank TurDef
Bangladesh’s potential acquisition of TULPAR in the new light tank configuration was brought up in the Indian Ministry of External Affairs press briefing.
Bangladesh’s interest in Turkish TULPAR’s new light tank configuration made its way to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs press briefing upon a journalist’s inquiry, Bangladesh-based Defres360 reported.
TULPAR’s new light tank configuration collaborates with OTOKAR and Italian Leonardo. The new configuration is fitted with the Leonardo HITFACT MKII 120 mm turret and was exhibited for the first time during WDS 2024. TULPAR’s light tank configuration was previously presented with Belgian Cockerill’s 105 mm turret.
HITFACT MKII’s 120 mm L45 low-recoil gun offers a significant advantage in firepower compared to the 105 mm guns. The gun can fire various NATO-standard 120 mm ammunition, including APFSDS-T and HEAT-MP-T.
HITFACT MKII with a 120 mm gun is currently in use with Centauro II 8x8 fire support vehicles of the Italian Army.
Turkiye’s previous defence equipment sales to Bangladesh include TRG-300 and TRG-230 guided artillery rockets alongside ROKETSAN’s MLRS and TEBER-81/82 laser/GNSS guidance kit for F-7BGI (Upgraded export variant of Chinese J-7) fighters.
