Israel cuts F-35 purchase citing concerns that aircraft is not yet operational

Israel’s government has decided to cut its order of F-35s, according to various media outlets. It will purchase a total of 31 F-35A stealth jets, instead of the 50 jets that the country’s military wanted to acquire.

"Since the plane is not yet operational in the US,” added Steinitz, “I suggested that we make do with the purchase of less than half the amount, and wait with decisions on purchasing additional jets, as several other countries – like Australia, Italy, Canada and Holland – have done.”
