Bulgaria, Turkey Launch Joint Ventures on Military Equipment

Bulgarian and Turkish military arsenal producing companies will cooperate in the manufacture of military equipment for the peacekeeping units, maintained by the two countries, Bulgaria's Army Chief General Nikola Kolev said on Friday, the first day of his official visit to the south-eastern neighbour.
Future joint ventures will benefit from the experience of the Turkish 28th brigade, which is profiled in preparation works and equipment of peacekeeping units. The military manufacturers will produce night-sight glasses, transport means, including tank machines, and communications systems.
The Bulgarian and Turkish armies are set to exchange anti-terrorist and peacekeeping activities instructors, as Turkey has a long-year experience in that field. Bulgaria is going to be assisted by its neighbor in building its own training center for missions abroad, Gen. Kolev said.
Bulgarian military pilots will train with their Turkish colleagues for exploiting F-16 fighter. Bulgaria does not dispose of such fighters yet, but it might need some one day, Gen. Nikola Kolev pointed out.
