Indonesia and Iran collaborate on radar systems

The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) and Iran Electronics Industries (IEI) have agreed to develop radar systems for commercial and military applications.
The agreement, announced on 13 May, is indicative of the increasingly close strategic partnership between the two countries, which is partly focused on the transfer of technologies, primarily from Iran to Indonesia, in a range of sectors including telecommunications and energy.
Accordingly, the arrangement between LIPI and IEI features the development of active and passive radar systems for Indonesian markets, based on IEI technologies and designs. Indonesia's state-owned aerospace manufacturer PT Dirgantara will also be involved in the programme, most likely as system integrator and manufacturer.
