Iran condemns Nazi killing of Jews and Zionists’ atrocities against Palestinians: Zarif

TEHRAN, Sep. 7 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has said that Iran condemns the killing of Jews by Nazis during the Second World War as it denounces similar actions being committed against Palestinians by the Zionist regime of Israel.

“Our Jewish countrymen are a recognized minority in Iran and have an active representative in the Parliament,” Zarif said, adding, “We never were against Jews. We oppose Zionists who are a small group.”

“We do not allow the Zionists to represent Iran as an anti-Semitic country in their propaganda so they can cover up their crimes against Palestinian and Lebanese people,” the senior Iranian diplomat said.

The Zionists used the Holocaust as a pretext to attract sympathy around the world in efforts to plunder the rights of the Palestinian people, he added.

Qalibaf reelected mayor of Tehran

TEHRAN, Sep. 9 (MNA) – Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has been reelected as Tehran mayor to serve his third term since his first election in 2005. During a voting session on Sunday, members of the Tehran City Council reelected Qalibaf as mayor by 17 votes out of 31.

Qalibaf’s main rival, Mohsen Hashemi, received 14 votes.
