Die Überschrift würde ich mit einem Fragezeichen versehen. Interessant aber die Erkenntnisse der Amerikaner, dass heute mehr internationale Islamisten nach Syrien in den Jihad ziehen wie in den härtesten Zeiten des Irak Krieges.

The Wall Street Journal reported Morell said there are now more foreigners flowing into Syria each month to fight with al-Qaida-affiliated groups than there were going to Iraq to fight with al-Qaida at the height of the war there.

Meanwhile, according to UPI, Matthew G. Olsen, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, stated Syria “has become really the predominant jihadist battlefield in the world.”

Der folgende Artikel zeigt die ganze Dramatik der vollkommen verfehlten US Außenpolitik und erinnert stark an den Kontext des 3. Golfkriegs. Also wieder ohne Sicherheitsrat und Mandat, dafür aber dieses Mal mit UN Beweisen (s. Carla Ponte), dass die beschützte Gegenseite Chemiewaffen eingesetzt hat. So frech war tatsächlich nicht einmal G.W. Bush.

WND has published numerous videos showing that foreign fighters of the Syrian opposition not only have that capability but were actually firing artillery rounds that appeared to be filled with chemical weapons.

In addition, the Syrian government published other videos showing captured canisters of chemical components necessary to make such weapons.

The U.N. earlier this year had undertaken a preliminary investigation and had concluded that a chemical-filled artillery attack on the Syrian city of Aleppo that killed a number of civilians and some 15 Syrian military personnel was conducted by foreign fighters originating out of Turkey.

To back up this assessment, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he had turned over evidence to the U.N. revealing that chemical weapons produced by supporters of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein had made the chemicals and hauled them to Turkey to be loaded into artillery and mortars.
