Clashes have broken out between Kurdish militants linked to the Democratic Union Party and al-Qaeda-linked groups in northern Syria near the border with Turkey.
Kurdish fighters, who are opposed to foreign interference in Syria, have been battling foreign-backed militants in the northern province of Raqa on Syria's border with Turkey.
Scores of al-Qaeda-linked militants have died over the past days in clashes with the Kurds.

Berichten zufolge haben die Kurden sich einige Gefechte mit sunnitischen Extremisten zwischen Al Hasakah und Ras al-Ain geliefert. Die unmittelbar an der türkischen Grenze gelegenene Ortschaft Ras al-Ain, die von logistischer Relevanz ist, konnte durch die Kurden der PYD erobert werden und die Ortschaft wird von ihnen wohl weiterhin kontrolliert. Bei den Gefechten wurden wohl u.a. 70 NATO-Proxies der Al-Nusrah getötet. Die Entwicklung in den Kurdengebieten dürfte vor allem die Türken beunruhigen. Und so schallt es auch schon aus dieser Richtung:

ISTANBUL // A right-wing party in Turkey's parliament is calling for armed intervention by Ankara in Syria to prevent the formation of an autonomous Kurdish region there.
The call comes after the Democratic Union Party (PYD), a Syrian Kurdish group affilliated to the Kurdish rebel organisation operating in Turkish territory, captured the Syrian town of Ras Al Ayn on the 900 kilometre-long border with Turkey last week.

The Turkish military said on its website yesterday that it was prepared to take action "against possible threats coming from across the border" and would respond to shots fired into Turkey from Syria.
Turkey and the United States regard the PYD, the strongest armed Kurdish group in Syria, as a PKK offshoot.
