über den Kanal soll sogar mal eine Öl- oder Gasplattform vom schwarzen Meer in das kaspische Meer transportiert worden sein -- aber da bin ich nicht so sicher.
Insbesondere die Brückenbauwerke dürften die Passage von höheren Schiffen eigentlich nicht zulassen.
Allerdings wird der Typ auch parallel am Golf gebaut:

IRAN
Second JAMARAN class (Project Mowj) frigate launched at Anzali (Caspian Sea) … President Ahmadinejad attending ceremony … to become “operational in six months” … contradictory media reports speak of VELAYAT as well as of DAMAVAND … one report suggests actually two ships, with the second one built at Bandar Abbas and “planned to be launched soon”.
(rmks: could be previously announced VELAYAT now renamed DAMAVAND, but have to wait a bit for clarification)

Frigate SABALAN and supply ship KHARG on return transit from China to Iran … have passed the Strait of Malacca, heading towards Colombo (Sri Lanka) for a scheduled port visit … “warned off” an Australian reconnaissance aircraft approaching for photo taking.
