Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that all groups should keep their distance from the Syrian regime and especially PYD (a Kurdish armed group in Syria which had links with PKK) must do it.
"We will monitor the attitude to be assumed by PYD," said Davutoglu, who is visiting Davos for the World Economic Forum, when replying to questions on NTV channel.
Meanhwile, fighting intensified between the Kurds and Syrian opposition on the Turkish border.
“All groups in Syria should distance themselves from the regime,” Davutoğlu said.
At least 56 people have been killed in nearly two weeks of fighting in northeast Syria between anti-government opposition fighters and members of the Kurdish minority who have seized on the civil war to try to secure self-rule.
Referring to the peace process between Turkish authorities and the PKK, Davutoğlu said all events in the region are linked to each other. He added that these events could well influence each other. He noted that PYD’s distancing itself from the Assad regime is important for Syria to achieve stability.
