TEHRAN (FNA)- A deputy commander of the Iranian Armed Forces called on the Persian Gulf Arab states to avoid raising fake territorial claims against Iran, warning that such attempts will cost them dearly.
Addressing a group of Iranian Armed Forces' cultural and media personnel on Sunday, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces for Cultural Affairs and Defense Publicity Brigadier General Massoud Jazzayeri first cautioned that the Arab states' baseless and fake claims on the Persian Gulf and the three Iranian islands of Abu Musa, the Greater Tunb and the Lesser Tunb in the Persian Gulf are interpreted as "playing in the court of the US and the colonialist and arrogant powers".
"Challenging and raising doubt about the Persian Gulf is a futile attempt, and Arab governments and sheikhs in the region should know that this is a trap laid for them by the enemies of Islam," Jazzayeri stated.
He warned that raising such claims would cost the claimants dearly, and stressed that experience has proved that such scenarios, which have been devised by the arrogant powers, yield no benefit either for their plotters or for their executors."
The commander further stated that the Iranian Armed Forces are fully prepared to defend Iran's territories, territorial integrity and national interests.
